We started the year with a webinar series on the Tattvas called The Building Blocks of Creation in Kashmir Shaivism. We had 100+ participants from around the world join us for this four-part series. It is now available for 20% off and would make a wonderful holiday gift!
Publication
During the year, our editorial team, which includes myself, Denise and Viresh Hughes, George Barselaar and Claudia Dose continued our work on the Tantraloka.
As you will recall, Tantraloka Ahnika (chapter) 1 was released in 2017 and we are now working on Tantraloka Ahnika II & III as one book to be published for Swami Lakshmanjoo’s birthday on May 9th, 2020.

TantralokaIn Tantraloka Ahnika 1 Abhinavagupta tells us that Ahnika 2 introduces the means where there is no means, where means are abandoned. Ahnika 3 introduces the supreme means. Here it will be explained how this whole universe is reflected in the mirror of consciousness, what the letters of the Sanskrit alphabet indicate, and how all mantras get entry in supreme I-consciousness.
Retreats – Study Sessions
Retreats – Study SessionsAs we have done for many years,
we held two retreats; one after Swami’s birthday, May 9th and the other after his Mahasamadhi Celebration in September.
Additionally, we continue to meet each Sunday morning for the reciting of the weekly puja and study sessions. Please let us know if you would like to join us via livestream for the recitation of these important Kashmir Shaivite prayers.
As we move into 2020, we have a number of important and transformative events taking place:
Online course on the Upayas
To start with, we are excited to announce the hosting of a webinar series in February 2020 on the Upayas.
The Upayas or “means” in Kashmir Shaivism include Anavopaya – inferior means, shaktopaya – the medium means, shambhavopaya – the superior means, and anupaya – the means beyond means. We will also discuss the upayas in relation to the 112 dharanas, which are experiential practices from the Vijnana Bhairava. Please stay tuned for an announcement on this webinar. We look forward to your participation.
Release of Tantraloka II & III
In May 2020, at our spring Birthday retreat (May 10-13th), we will be releasing Tantraloka Ahnikas II & III, as mentioned above. Announcement to pre-order the Tantraloka will be sent to you along with a link to sign-up for the one-day celebratory puja and four-day retreat.
Celebrate and Study with us
On Saturday, September 5th, 2020, please join the Universal Shaiva Fellowship for the Mahasamadhi day-long ceremony, including a fire ceremony and puja along with the four-day fall retreat that follows (Sept 6-9th).
India Study Tour
Finally, we are excited to announce the “Swami Lakshmanjoo Wisdom Verses Tour” to be held in Haridwar, India in December 2020.
This tour – offered in conjunction with our sister organization in India, Ishwar Ashram Trust – will include a five-day workshop on the 85 verses Swamiji chose which represent the crème of Kashmir Shaivism. This will coincide with a book release of these verses along with seven hours of video recordings of Swamiji’s revelation of these profound teachings.
